Chill-Out! Relax! Get Some Awesome SLEEP

OHHH SLEEP! It’s SO important. I recently got some micro-bead hair extensions that just gave me another reason to obsess about when I lay my head down. (Another story soon to come.)

Truth is … stress causes all kind of yucky stuff! From weight gain and aging to high blood pressure and mental fogginess! YUCK! It not only makes you feel and look bad, but it’s bad for your overall health, too.

If you think you don’t have the time to meditate, exercise and take care of your ‘chill-out’ factor, think again! This is your body! Your temple of creation! And … it really doesn’t take that much time!  This is why I wanted to tell you about my favorite ways to unwind, chill out, and get a great night of zzzzzzzzz.

During the Day!

1. Don’t drink too much coffee

Oh come on, you know when you’ve had too much. I don’t need to give you a limit.

2. Get an acupuncturist to help

I’ve said it before, but I seriously just can’t get enough of this treatment – and it is truly a treat. It does not hurt, it effectively relieves tension and soothes your body. My friend, Jennifer Stang, at Evolution Acupuncture uses acupuncture to heal people from the inside out. She did just that for me and I know she can do the same for you. So, treat yourself!

3. Move your body

I know some days the last thing you want to do after a long day is work out, but it doesn’t have to necessarily be extraneous.

Go for a walk or practice some yoga for a few minutes just enough to move your body and get out the extra “vritti,” as they call it in yoga. What a cool word! “Chitta Vritti” is basically the Sanskrit term for mind chatter, leading to the birth of the “monkey mind.” Getting rid of all that pent up energy and tension will soothe your body and mind.

4. Get your mind on something else – READ!

Sometimes it helps me to take a mini-vacation by getting lost in a book. There are actually several studies that have found reading to be a very powerful stress reliever. It distracts you from daily worries and anxiety, while your muscles naturally relax. Speaking of… I think you will enjoy getting lost in the juicy novel Falling in Stilettos by, yours truly, Jeneth Blackert.

5. Have an orgasm

We are adults here, I don’t think I need to say any more here 🙂

6. If you have to nap during the day keep it to only 20 minutes

Okay, here’s a rule — but ask your body what it needs.

Before Bed!

7. Don’t drink alcohol

Alcohol does not help sleep. It may help you fall asleep, but that’s NOT really REM sleep. #justsayin.

8. Take something for rest

This Calm tea is like natural Xanax. NO JOKE. enjoy it before bed & have the best sleep of your life. Sometimes I add a drop of CBD oil. There are a ton of awesome oils on Amazon 😉

9. Try a hot bath with lavender and salts

I took me a while to become a fan of salts. They made my skin dry! And then I learn about them and what you could add with them so they would de-bloat and detox while hydrating and relaxing you at the same time. It was truly a magic formula. Read more about that here.
